Sardar@150 Unity March Campaign launched

The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, in collaboration with Mera Yuva Bharat Chandel, launched the Sardar@150 Unity March campaign at the Conference Hall, DC Complex, Chandel district. The event was attended by esteemed dignitaries, including Deputy Commissioner of Chandel, L. Nandakumar Singh; SK Angshel, Convenor for Sardar@150 Padyatra, Chandel District; P. Rebecca Rangnamei, District Youth Officer, Mera Yuva Bharat; and Dr. Monohermayum Shantakumar Sharma, Assistant Professor and NSS Program Officer, United College Chandel.
This nationwide campaign commemorates the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, highlighting his legacy of unity, patriotism, and service. A series of padyatras and events will be held to raise awareness among citizens, especially the youth, about Patel’s contributions to the nation. The campaign aims to strengthen the spirit of patriotism and social harmony through various activities and outreach programs engaging students, youth organizations, and community leaders.
In his address, Deputy Commissioner Chandel emphasized the importance of the campaign and announced that Chandel district will observe two padyatras. The first padyatra will commence on November 15, starting from Maha Union Govt. Higher Secondary School to DC Office Compound. The second padyatra, for Chakpikarong block, will begin from Chakpikarong Govt. Higher Secondary School to Chakpikarong Bazar.
Also, a press conference was held today at the DC Conference Hall of Tengnoupal district chaired by Saurabh Yadav, IAS to announce Unity March. The DC announced that a padyatra will be organized on 11th November starting from Tengnoupal High School to District Headquarter, Tengnoupal district. The DC appealed to the public to participate in the padyatra.
A press conference was held at the Deputy Commissioner’s (DC) conference hall today to announce a Unity March organised by the District Administration in collaboration with Mera Yuva Bharat Tamenglong.
Briefing members of the media, DC Dr L Angshim Dangshawa, IAS said the march is being organised to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, popularly known as the Iron Man of India. “Vallabhbhai Patel was one of the prominent freedom fighters,” he said, and added that, as a mark of respect, patriotism and unity the district administration will hold a Unity March on October 31, 2025. The march will assemble at 7:00 AM at Jadonang Park and proceed to Apollo Ground, Tamenglong.
Dr Dangshawa appealed to the general public and students to participate in the event. He also said T shirts will be distributed to all participants. The press conference was attended by Chunthuingam Dangmei, Youth Officer, Mera Yuva Bharat Tamenglong, along with other dignitaries.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner of Kangpokpi, N. Shokhongam Baite, MCS, today held a press briefing in connection with the forthcoming Sardar@150 Unity March. The District Administration Kangpokpi, in collaboration with various line departments, will be organising Unity Marches on 4th November 2025 at Kangpokpi and Saikul respectively.
