Imphal, Aug 16:

The Rongmei Naga Council, Manipur, has announced an indefinite bandh starting from midnight on August 18, 2024, in response to the government’s failure to take positive action regarding the Alternative Administration Arrangement for Noney District.
According to the notice issued by the council, the bandh will affect key routes including Leimatak Loktak Project Road, NH37, and Tongjei Maril Road. The council’s decision comes after their demands for government intervention went unaddressed.
The notice also highlights that the bandh will make exceptions for medical emergencies, public services such as water and electricity, and education. Medical emergencies or those carrying necessary documents will be allowed to pass through, and the public is requested to cooperate during the duration of the blockade.
The Rongmei Naga Council has urged the public to support the bandh until their demands are met.
