RIMS Nurses Association observes International Nurses Day 2025

The RIMS Nurses Association, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, commemorated International Nurses Day 2025 with a solemn and inspiring program held today at Jubilee Hall, RIMS, Imphal. The event was organized under the global theme, “Our Nurses, Our Future – Caring for Nurses Strengthens Economies,” which highlights the critical role nurses play not only in healthcare but also in contributing to sustainable economic growth.
The function was graced by Prof. G. Sunil Kumar Sharma, Director of RIMS, Imphal, as the Chief Guest; Prof. N. Sanjib Singh, Medical Superintendent, RIMS Hospital, Imphal, as the Guest of Honour; and RK Mecolt Singh, Deputy Director (Administration), RIMS, Imphal, as the President of the function. Sairem Sarat Singh, Chief Accounts Officer, RIMS, Imphal, and Ningombam Ibemhal, Chief Nursing Officer (i/c), RIMS, Imphal, were also present on the occasion.
Speaking at the event, Prof. G. Sunil Kumar Sharma praised nurses as the backbone of healthcare and expressed gratitude for their tireless service. He emphasized that this year’s theme, “Our Nurses, Our Future,” reflects their critical role as caregivers, educators, and leaders. He highlighted the dedication of RIMS nurses during crises like COVID-19 and in rural outreach programs, and called for stronger policies to support nursing education, fair compensation, and career advancement.
The program commenced with the lighting of the inaugural lamp and a floral tribute to Florence Nightingale, honoring her enduring legacy. Attended by nursing professionals, faculty, students, and dignitaries from across the institute, the celebration featured cultural performances and a tribute to exemplary nursing service. The event underscored the vital role of nurses in transforming healthcare and strengthening both health systems and national economies.
