RIMS Imphal introduces digital facilities to enhance patient services

The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, has introduced a series of new digital facilities aimed at improving patient convenience and reducing waiting times. These tech-enabled upgrades are designed to streamline hospital processes and enhance overall service delivery.
Patients can now book OPD appointments online through the Central Government’s ORS portal at www.ors.gov.in. After booking, a unique Appointment ID is generated, which must be presented at the OPD counter to collect the OPD sheet. This system is expected to significantly reduce queues and ease the registration process.
Additionally, RIMS has implemented the “Scan & Share” system at OPD registration counters. By scanning the QR code displayed at the counters using a mobile phone, patients can wait for their token numbers to be shown on digital screens, eliminating the need to stand in long lines.
To access this facility, patients are required to have an Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) ID. This ID can be generated either through the official ABHA app or at the ABHA ID Creation Counter set up at RIMS.
Furthermore, Token Dispenser Kiosks have been installed at the OPD premises. These self-service kiosks allow patients to generate tokens for OPD consultations and diagnostic services, helping ensure accurate data entry and efficient crowd management.
RIMS administration has urged the public to make full use of these patient-friendly digital services, reflecting the institute’s commitment to delivering technology-driven and patient-centric healthcare in the region.
