Rapid rise in water level of Nambul River likely to cause flood at many places

Imphal, July 2: Incessant downpour of rains in Hill district especially at Tamenglong district has rapidly rises the water level of Nambul river that runs in the Middle of Imphal City. Expert said if the rains continue in the next one or two days various places of Keishamthong, Sagolband and Naoriya Pakhang Lakpa Assembly Constituencies are likely to be flooded by the water that breach from the river.
As according to official data the rainfall recorded today at Kangpokpi is 15 mm, at Saikul area is 28 mm, at Litan is 26 mm, at Rajbhavan here in Imphal is 24 mm and at Lamphelpat the rainfall recorded is 26 mm.
Early today morning at around 6.30 am as there are reports  about the over flow of river at some of the places official of the IFCD were forced to open two gates of the five gates of Ithai barrage.  
Meanwhile, almost all the major roads including MI roads were flooded in few hours rains yesterday evening.
