Tension erupted at Kwakta Khuman Upper Primary School under Kwakta Gram Panchayat today as students and guardians staged a protest against the recent transfer of two teachers, including the Head Master-in-Charge.
The protesters gathered in front of the school gate, blocking the entrance while holding placards demanding the immediate revocation of the transfers. Slogans such as “Cancel the teacher transfers,” “Why transfer teachers mid-session?” and “We want education” were prominently displayed.
Local guardians expressed concern that the transfer of the Head Master-in-Charge and another teacher will disrupt the education of students. The school, which caters to classes from Pre-Primary (PP1, PP2, PP3) up to Class VIII, reportedly has 11 classrooms but is now left severely understaffed.
According to a guardian, the school had eight regular teachers. However, with the recent transfers and the previous deployment of three teachers to another school, only a few remain. To fill the gap, two part-time teachers were reportedly engaged, but parents say this is not enough to meet the needs of over a hundred students.
They warned that the school may not be able to function properly if the issue is not resolved soon. Demanding immediate intervention from the authorities, they urged the government to revoke the transfers and ensure that the school is adequately staffed to provide uninterrupted education to their children.
