Imphal, Jan 12:

Manipur Police has categorically denied allegations made by the NSCN-IM that Ukhrul Superintendent of Police (SP) Kartik supplied materials to Kuki militants, as reported by certain sections of the media.
According to the allegations, NSCN-IM claimed that SP Kartik was caught red-handed on December 18, 2024, transporting concealed items under the guise of delivering supplies. The alleged incident involved two Shaktiman trucks and two mini pickup trucks loaded with rice and tin sheets. Suspicion reportedly arose because additional, undisclosed items were hidden beneath the visible cargo.
The NSCN-IM further alleged that SP Kartik instructed his team to deliver the trucks to Molhang Kuki village, falsely stating the supplies were meant for the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) stationed there. However, upon reaching the village, the trucks were reportedly unloaded by around 200 armed Kuki militants instead of CRPF personnel. According to the claims, the accompanying police officers were left in shock as the militants swiftly concealed the unloaded goods.
Reacting to these allegations, Manipur Police issued a strong denial through social media, stating:
“On 11/1/25, it was found that certain media outlets were publishing a news item based on a press release from NSCN-IM, alleging that Ukhrul SP was aiding Kuki militants. This news item and the press release are blatantly false.”
The statement clarified that on December 12, 2024, and December 19, 2024, Ukhrul Police provided police escorts to trucks carrying laborers and materials intended for the construction of security barracks in Molhang Kuki village. These barracks were meant to house BSF companies, following a request from the BSF, Kangpokpi District Police, and directives from Police Headquarters.
The police emphasized that the allegations were baseless and harmful, adding, “Posting or publishing such unverified facts is wrong and tarnishes the image of Ukhrul District Police and the reputation of the SP.”
An appeal was made to the public and media to verify facts before disseminating sensitive information. The police underscored the importance of maintaining accuracy, particularly during efforts to restore peace and normalcy in the state.
