Police arrest five individuals for heroin possession

In a recent crackdown on illegal drug activities, authorities in Manipur have reported the arrest of five individuals, including two women, on charges of unauthorized possession of suspected heroin powder. According to police sources, the arrests were made as part of a raid operation during the past 24 hours.
Approximately 238 grams of heroin powder, estimated to be worth around 50 lakhs in local black markets, was seized from the suspects. The contraband was reportedly smuggled into Manipur from Myanmar and was cleverly concealed within 20 separate soap cases.
The apprehended individuals have been identified as Wahida Bebi (49), Ruksana Begum (21), Md Abarar (30), Yumnam Ajit Kumar Singh, and Pebam Maheshor Singh (38).
The Manipur police, refraining from disclosing the specific location of the arrests and seizures, cited ongoing investigations and hinted at potential follow-up raids and operations.
Subsequently, the arrested individuals and the confiscated contraband have been handed over to the respective police stations for further legal proceedings, as confirmed by the authorities.
