Women Action for Development (WAD) has appealed the Government of Manipur to protect the Woman Judge by providing Y Class Security and other adequate security measures to A. Noutuneshwari Devi, Special Judge, POCSO, Senapati at the earliest to avoid threats and other unwanted activities.

“Yesterday (August 21 2018) at around 7:30 am, we received information that at the Dens Park Court, Senapati District there seems to be some suspicious activities being carried out  where Ms A Noutuneshwari, Special Judge, POCSO, Senapati is staying and seems threatening”, a statement of the WAD said.

It said that some unknown people of the area act suspicious by asking some unrelated questions to the guards and other police personnel deployed for the security of the Judge and the court.

It could be noted that Special judge, POCSO, A. Noutuneshwari Devi awarded death penalty to a 21-year-old man in a 2015 rape and murder case of a 4-year-old girl in Senapati District. Since the announcement of the Judgment, it seems her activities are being threatened and giving psychological fear of unwanted incident. As the people of Manipur have already experienced the brutality committed to the Government’ employees like the brutal killing of Mr Kishan and his colleagues by some armed groups who was assign to deliver his duty as a government employee.

WAD urged the Government of Manipur to protect the Woman Judge by providing Y Class Security or other adequate security and administrative arrangements to the Special judge, POCSO, A. Noutuneshwari Devi as a matter of urgency and in the best interest of the Public to avoid other possible threats in the near future.
