PHED announces temporary suspension of water supply in flood-affected areas

The Office of the Water Supply Maintenance Division No. 2 under the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), Government of Manipur, has reportedly announced a temporary suspension of water supply services in various parts of Imphal and its surrounding areas due to the ongoing flood situation.
According to the department, water supply has been halted in areas served by the Porompat Water Treatment Plant, including Rahmania and Thambalkhong, New Checkon, Nongmeibung, Tribal Colony, Khalabung Leirak, Soibam Leikai, Ayangpalli Road, Kongpal, Khurai Sajor Leikai, Thoudam Leikai, Thangjam Leikai, Tinsid Road, Tellipati, Wangkhei Khunou, Hatta, Top Khongnang Makhong and other adjoining localities.
Similarly, water supply has also been suspended in areas under the Ningthempukhri Water Treatment Plant, such as New Checkon, Nongmeibung Chakpram Leirak, Palace Compound, Wangkhei Angom Leikai, Wangkhei Yonglan Leirak, Ningthempukhri Makhong Leirak, Awang Leirak, Sabi Leirak, Thangapat Mapal, Wangkhei Mayum Leirak, St. George Leirak and the general Wangkhei area.
In addition, the department has mentioned that there would be no water supply in areas served by the Old Thumbuthong Water Treatment Plant and New Thumbuthong (Aribam Leikai) Zonal Station. Affected localities include Guru Aribam Leirak, Advance Hospital Road, Harikha Gokmakhong Leirak, Bachaspati Mayum Leirak, Takhelkhong areas, Brahmapur Thangjam Leirak, Singjamei Bhegyabati Leirak, Tinsubam Leirak, Harinath Road, Laishram Leirak, Mandalay Leirak and Aribam Leikai, among others.
Furthermore, residents of Singjamei Ward No. 17, covering Singjamei Sapam Leikai, Singjamei Oinam Thingel, Singjamei Waikhom Leikai, Leishangthem Leikai, and Mayengbam Leikai, have also been informed of the suspension of water supply.
The PHED has appealed for public understanding and stated that normal water supply would be restored once the floodwaters recede. The department has expressed deep regret for the inconvenience caused to the public due to this disruption.
