The District Health Society, Senapati organised an Orientation programme today on National De-Worming Day for second phase at CMO Conference Hall, Senapati.
During the programme, Dr. Sumpi Percy, Chief Medical Officer, Senapati who is also the resource person highlighted on the importance of observing National De-Worming Day. She also mentioned its objectives and salient features. She also continued to describe the role of line departments by Social Welfare and Education in making field visit and monitored through the Report Coverage data which are to be submitted to the department of Health and Family Welfare in standardized formats within the given timelines. She also appealed the public to maintain cleanliness by using proper sanitary toilets, proper hand washing and washed fruits and vegetables with safe and clean water.
It may be also mentioned NDD is an initiative of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India to make every child in the country worm- free.
It has been implemented since February 2015 in Anganwadi Centres, Schools & Colleges. Albendazole tablets are administered to children of 1-19 years old twice a year to reduce Anemia prevalence which is due to Helminthiasis.
The programme was attended by DLO’s, Medical Officer’s and its staff, ICDS DPO and its supervisors, School Teachers, ASHA workers and Anganwadi workers.
Earlier, Deputy Commissioner, Senapati Mamoni Doley, IAS chaired the District Task Force meeting at DC Office, Senapati. The meeting was deliberated on launching of National De-Worming Day for 2nd Phase.
During the meeting, it has been decided that the 2nd phase for NDD will be launched on 23rd October, 2023 at Avant Garde Academy, Taphou Senapati. For NDD Mop- up Day, the date has been set on 27th October. Report Coverage data of NDD will be submitting on 10th November, 2023.
