One found hanging in De-Addiction Centre; Family suspects foul play

An inmate of a De-Addiction cum Rehabilitation Centre named Anouba Itinpham, located at Narankonjil Makha Leikai, was found hanging in the toilet of the centre yesterday afternoon, according to sources.
The deceased has been identified as 21-year-old Sanasam Achou @ Jackson, son of S. Inao @ Manglem of Thoubal Haokha Mamang Leikai. Reports said he was admitted to the centre by his family members on June 4.
According to the family, they were informed about the incident by Iland Hospital, Canchipur, around 1:56 PM yesterday. When they reached the hospital, they found that he had already died. Hospital sources confirmed that Sanasam Achou @ Jackson was brought in after being found hanging.
The family, however, expressed doubts over the circumstances of his death, stating that the toilet where he was allegedly found hanging was too low to allow for such an act, and there was no suitable place to tie the towel reportedly used. They claimed it was not physically possible for someone to hang themselves in a sitting position.
They also said that fellow inmates gave conflicting statements when questioned about the incident.
The family has lodged a formal complaint in connection with the incident, and the body has been sent to the RIMS morgue for post-mortem examination.
