Office of Rajya Sabha MP clarifies MPLAD utilisation status

The office of Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament Maharaja Sanajaoba has issued a clarification regarding information circulated on social media on the utilisation of Members of Parliament Local Area Development (MPLAD) Scheme funds in Manipur.
According to the clarification, a recent social media post relating to MPLAD works of the Rajya Sabha MP, while reflecting civic concern, was stated to lack clarity and factual accuracy. The office clarified that a total of 81 works have been taken up so far under the MPLAD of the Rajya Sabha MP from Manipur, contrary to the figure of 45 mentioned in the post.
It was stated that 32 works executed under the earlier physical format system have already been completed, with utilisation certificates issued by the concerned District Rural Development Agency officials. As these works were carried out prior to the introduction of the MPLAD official portal, their status is not reflected on the portal.
The clarification further stated that following the launch of the MPLAD portal by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation during 2023–2024, the state began uploading works from March 2024. Since then, 49 works have been recommended online, including 21 works recommended on December 1, 2025. Of these, 18 works have been declared completed, while the completion status of some works is yet to be updated.
The office stated that public figures should not be criticised without adequate verification and added that placing accurate information in the public domain for all elected representatives is essential to ensure accountability.
