OC Meira’s film “KHOMLANG LAMAN” premieres at Manipur University

The Manipuri feature film “Khomlang Laman”, directed by OC Meira, was screened at Manipur University as part of the World Teacher’s Day celebrations, organized by the Manipur University Students’ Union.
The event, held to celebrate the significance of the film, was attended by university professors, research scholars, and students. The screening was aimed at highlighting the deep connection between the film and the life experiences it portrays, focusing on the enduring value it brings to the audience.
Present at the event were Manipur University’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. N. Lokendra Singh, Dean of the School of Agricultural Science, Prof. G.K.N. Chhetry, and Dean of the School of Social Science, Prof. Th. Purnima Devi. During the ceremony, “KHOMLANG LAMAN” director OC Meira was felicitated for his work. Notably, the film had a grand screening for two consecutive nights at the MSFDS Auditorium.
During his address, OC Meira mentioned that showcasing Manipuri films in such prestigious forums like the university marks a significant step toward elevating the industry. He expressed hope that the screening would inspire students and faculty to further explore the themes in Manipuri cinema and foster deeper engagement.
The event saw the university professors sharing their excitement about the film, recognizing its potential to inspire broader social dialogue. The university officials acknowledged that it is a proud moment for Manipuri cinema and provided encouragement for future artistic endeavors.
The film’s producer is Nungthilchaibi (Chana Lembi), and it features notable performances from actors like Denny Likmabam, Amar Mayanglambam, Ratan Mukhai, Edhou, Oken Thoudam, Maya Choudhuri, Abenao, and Ethoi Oinam. The production team includes SK Mangang and Loijingkhombi, with music by Nanao Sagolmang, editing by Sanjit XL, and cinematography by Naobi Kangla and Omeshkumar.
Additionally, Romi Meitei’s feature film “Eikhoigee Yum” was also screened during the event as part of the celebrations.
