The Observation Committee of the 24th Great June Uprising, Unity Day, jointly formed by the All Manipur United Clubs’ Organisation (AMUCO) and the United Committee Manipur (UCM), has extended its heartfelt gratitude to the people of Manipur for their overwhelming participation in paying floral tributes at the Kekrupat Memorial. The observance commemorated the mass movement of June 18, 2001, when thousands rose in unison to defend the territorial integrity of the state.
The Committee acknowledged the public’s unwavering support in honoring the martyrs who laid down their lives for the cause of Manipur, reinforcing the spirit of unity and collective identity among the people.
The Committee also expressed appreciation to the Department of Environment & Climate Change, Government of Manipur, the Kangla Fort Board, and the Imphal Municipal Corporation (IMC) for their active role in ensuring cleanliness and environmental maintenance at Kekrupat and its surrounding areas ahead of the observance.
As part of the Unity Day programme, a blood donation camp was organised on June 18 at Kekrupat in collaboration with RIMS and JNIMS blood banks. Staff and volunteers from both institutions, along with members of the Indian Red Cross Society, Imphal, participated in the initiative. Manipur Police personnel also lent their support to ensure the success of the camp.
The Observation Committee further extended its sincere thanks to all government departments, institutions, print and electronic media houses, and volunteers for their contributions in making the event solemn, meaningful, and dignified.
