The Manipur Unit of the National People’s Party (NPP) distributed sewing machines to internally displaced persons (IDPs) residing at the TYC Kumbi Relief Camp on Thursday as part of an initiative aimed at supporting livelihood generation among displaced families.
The programme focused on helping affected families, particularly women, rebuild their livelihoods and attain economic self-reliance through sustainable income-generating activities.
The distribution programme was attended by NPP Manipur President Dr. Lorho S. Pfoze, Vice President Jilasana Ph., National Vice President Irengbam Hemochandra, General Secretary (Admin) Lakpachui Siro, NPWF Manipur President Nonibala Sapam, NPP Spokesperson Jaya Khangembam and NPWF General Secretary (Organisation) Niva Thouna. Representatives of the displaced persons were also present.
Speaking on the occasion, party leaders said such initiatives are important in restoring confidence and dignity among displaced communities. They reaffirmed the party’s commitment to extending humanitarian assistance and creating livelihood opportunities for those affected by the ongoing crisis.
The beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the support and stated that the sewing machines would enable them to undertake small-scale income-generating activities to support their families.
The initiative forms part of the party’s efforts to promote community welfare, women’s empowerment and inclusive development in the state.
