Imphal, Oct 23:

Amid speculation regarding the National People’s Party (NPP) reconsidering its alliance with the BJP-led government in Manipur, a five-member national delegation, led by NPP National General Secretary (Organisation) James Sangma, arrived in Imphal today. This visit aims to evaluate the party’s support for Chief Minister N. Biren Singh’s administration.
The delegation, dispatched by NPP National President and Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, includes Kerala State President KT Thomas, Arunachal Pradesh Working President P. Bage, Youth Front National President Nickey Nongkhlaw, and National General Secretary (Law & Administration) Abhaya Keshay. They will meet party MLAs and local leaders to assess the political climate and gauge public sentiment amid the ongoing crisis.
Additionally, the team plans to engage with senior citizens and prominent figures in Manipur to understand the ground realities. Their findings will be compiled into a report for the NPP National Executive Committee, which will inform the decision on the alliance’s future. With seven MLAs in the 60-member Assembly, the NPP’s stance could significantly impact Manipur’s political landscape.
