Guwahati, May 22: In a successful operation, Nagaon police arrested one notorious Rhino poacher yesterday.
He was identified as Rafiqul Islam, 32, resident of Hatipara Village, Rupahihat.
A joint police team of Rupahihat and Juria Police Station conducted the operation during which they managed to arrest him in Juria Sutirpar area.
Police said they also recovered 15 live bullets of .303 Rifle and a silencer muzzle from the backyard of his house which was hidden underground.
According to police, the arrested poacher Rafiqul was allegedly involved in many cases of rhino poaching. Rafiqul was apprehended by Jakhalabandha Police with a .303 rifle along with live ammunition just a few months ago.
The poacher is being interrogated by police in Rupahihat police station to get more information.
