Imphal, Sept 29:

Manipur’s Pherzawl District, which came into existence on December 8, 2016, still is not having either the office of the Deputy Commissioner or a Police state in its district headquarter, however, the district is blessed with the opening of a branch office of All Manipur Dalit Development Association on Thursday.
The district which is about 2.178 sq km and is inhabited by around 47,259 people has just one Government High School with just 4 teachers. Villagers said that of the four teachers 1 is retiring on superannuation in February and another in March next year. Over 100 students are currently enrolled in the govt. High School, the villager said.
However two private schools are running in the district to accommodate students with quality education, another villager added.
“We have to travel 40 Km to visit the SDO office as it is located at Parbung”, the villager said.
In the revenue district, there is no district hospital but a PHC is open for namesake. There are no doctors or nurses available in the PHC. On the other hand drinking water is also a major problem faced by the people, a villager added.
The reality faced by the people of the Pherzwal district came to light when the President of the All Manipur Dalit Development Association Dr. Th Rajen Ayangba and his team went to the district for the opening of its branch office. The Branch office was inaugurated yesterday at Ramtha Village by Rajen Ayngba.
“The branch office of the All Manipur Dalit Development Association is being open in the district to improve the condition of the marginalized villagers”, Rajen said and added that the office will create awareness among the people on various government developmental programme.
