Ningthoujam Ajit Singh, a native of Khangabok Khullakpam Mamang Leikai in Thoubal District, has been appointed as Deputy Director in the Directorate General of Employment under the Ministry of Labour and Employment. The selection was made by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) through a competitive process.
At present, Ningthoujam Ajit Singh is serving as Research Officer (Planning) in the North Eastern Council, Nongrim Hills, Shillong, under the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), Government of India.
He is the son of N. Lalbabu Singh and N. Bhanu Devi, and the husband of Salam Rajeshori Devi. A highly qualified individual, Ajit Singh completed his BA (Honours) in Economics from D.M. College of Arts in 2005, followed by an MA in Economics from Manipur University in 2007. He went on to earn an M.Phil in Economics from the same university in 2010.
Prior to his current posting, he served as Economic Officer in the Office of the Economic Adviser, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Udyog Bhawan, New Delhi, from 2014 to 2017.
His selection to the post of Deputy Director has brought pride to the people of Manipur, particularly his native village of Khangabok.
