Director Ningthouja Deepak’s play Mangsat (Vendetta) Special show has been showcased in a special show at Hongnemshang Theatre Hall, Changangei on Sunday evening 4.30.
Performed by NT Theater, the play- Mangsat- revolves around a terrifying earthquake that rocked a village.
“An earthquake occurred in the village and the heads hanging from the branches of the Mangutung tree fell on the ground leaving the villagers horrified. The villagers then decide to ask Ipu Thebo (the religious head) the cause of such terrifying earthquake. Ipu Thebo explained that the spirits of Zuba, the Khullakpa or head of the village was offered as his wife, the Khullakpi has failed to offer Yupan (offering) at the grave of her husband,” runs the story of the play written by Niladhwaja Khuman.
Khullakpi came to offer Yupan at her husband’s grave as instructed by Ipu Thebo at night. But her son Adaho was not satisfied with just offering the Yupan and requested the religious headman to find out what his father’s spirit really wanted.
