Newly created Jiribam revenue district inuagurated

Imphal, Dec 14: Chief Minister of Manipur, Okram Ibobi Singh today inaugurated Jiribam Revenue District in the presence of concern Ministers, MLAs and district authority.  Jiribam along with 6 other sub-divisions were created to full – fledged revenue district by the government of Manipur on Dec 8. Mix responses received to the sudden announcement of the new district with some dancing and praising the government and some decrying the government. The rejection came particularly from UNC, the Naga organization enforcing economic blockade in the Highways and political parties including BJP. Inauguration of Phezerol district scheduled today has been postponed. The Chief Minister will inaugurate Tengnoupal District.
Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh was accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, Revenue Minister I Hemochandra, Commerce and Industries Minister Govindas Konthoujam, MLA of Jiribam Assembly constituency Th Devendra Singh, Chief Secy. O Nabakishore and Dr. RK Nimai, Consultant to the Government of Manipur.  The Chief Minister along with others went to Jiribam in a chopper.
Dr. Harmit Singh Pahuja Singh, IAS, the first DC of the newly created revenue district welcomes the dignitaries.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh said that Jiribam Revenue district was not created for one particular community but is for the convenient of the entire community of the region. The Chief Minister also assured to take up infrastructural development works at all the sub divisions of the newly created district.
“I know the inconveniences of Fire brigade in proving service to residents at Borobekra. When there was a fire incident at Jakuradhore Bazar the Fire brigade from Jiribam could not reached the site on time”, the chief Minister said and added that a new fire station will be constructed at JT Road in consultation with the local MLA.
Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam while speaking on the occasion said that state government is considering Jiribam as an important places as it is the a door or gateway of Manipur. He however appealed the people to remain alert at most of the time as the place itself stands as a door to the state.
Revenue Minister I Hemochandra Singh , Commerce and Industries Minister Govindas Konthoujam and local MLA, Th.Devendra Singh also lauded the effort of the Chief Minister in creating the 7 new revenue district.
