Imphal, April 7: North-East Forum for International Solidarity(NEFIS) has strongly condemn the beating of Muslim boys, who had gone to see the celebration of Thabal Chongba in Thoubal district of Manipur.
In a statement NEFIS stated that certain nefarious forces are behind this incident, who wanted to destroy the social fabric of Manipuri Society.
“These nefarious forces for their narrow political interests, want to create rifts and destroy the relations between the communities”, the statement added.
It further stated that communalizing of Manipur Society should be condemned by all the political parties as well as progressive members of Civil Society. Moreover, the inaction of State Agencies is highly condemnable; who not only failed to stop the incident, but have till now not initiated any action against the culprits.The members of Civil Society should ensure confidence building measures, so that incidents such as this are not repeated. NEFIS condemns this communal incident and stands for unity among different communities of Manipur and North-East.
