Imphal, Sept 1: One day state level workshop on the theme of “Life Cycle Approach for Better Nutrition” was held today at State Bal Bhavan Khuman lampak, Imphal as part of the inaugural function of National Nutrition Week (Sept 1-7), 2016.
The function was organised by Community Food and Nutrition Extension Unit Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India, Chingamathak, Imphal in collaboration with Department of Social Welfare, Government of Manipur.
Speaking at today’s function as Chief Guest, Ak Mirabai Devi, Minister of Social Welfare, Government of Manipur said that nutritious food is highly required for mental development of health for each children’s.
Ak Mirabai also said that as long as people have good health, there will be sick free society. With the aim to maintain a healthy society, the National Nutrition Week is being organized. Countless numbers of awareness regarding nutrition and health also being organized by the concern department for the state, she added.
Ak Mirabai further said that with the supply of nutritional food, the concern departments are aiming to provide efficient nutrition to each child of the anganwadi centers.
Though both men and women do work at the same level, women took the biggest role that without the role of the women it cannot be denied that a healthy child could be brought up, she added.
Elaborating on the role and contribution played by the CDPO, ICDS Projects, Ak Mirabai expressed that the department could play a bigger roles in making the children of each district healthier, brainy and intelligent keeping aside the idea of thinking the child is mine and the rest do not belongs to him/her. Children under the age between 0-6 years must be considered as their own by the concern department for a better healthy and nutritious society.
