Imphal, Feb 18:
The people of Yaiskul area in Imphal West district expressed outrage today over the mysterious death of Takhelambam Rakesh and vehemently denied any suggestion of suicide. Rakesh, whose lifeless body was found within the DM College campus yesterday, was reportedly the victim of a violent attack by armed assailants, as confirmed by members of the Joint Action Committee (JAC).
Takhelambam Rakesh, 47 years old and from Yaiskul Chingakham Leirak, was discovered dead with a pistol in his hand, placed across his chest. Sadly, a fatal gunshot wound to his head was evident, with an empty shell casing found nearby.
Residents of Yaiskul Chingakham Leirak strongly believe foul play was involved in Rakesh’s death, viewing it as a carefully planned murder. Their suspicions have led to a sit-in protest, urging authorities to quickly apprehend those responsible for the heinous crime.
In response to the urgency of the situation, a Joint Action Committee (JAC) has been formed, demanding justice and the immediate arrest of the culprits. The JAC’s protest at Moirangkhom in Imphal serves as a powerful statement of the community’s determination to seek justice for Rakesh.
Their main demand is for a thorough and transparent investigation, refusing to accept Rakesh’s body until a comprehensive post-mortem report, conducted with video documentation, is obtained.
Left behind after this tragic loss are Rakesh’s grieving wife, two children, and a sister, struggling with deep sorrow and unanswered questions about his death.
