The Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) today observed the 77th Death Anniversary of Rashtrapita Mahatma Gandhi at Congress Bhawan, BT Road, Imphal. A fitting tribute was paid to the Father of the Nation as party leaders and members offered floral tributes at his statue at Congress Bhawan.
Leading the homage, MPCC President K. Meghachandra Singh, CLP Leader O. Ibobi Singh, and CWC Member Gaikhangam attended the event as President, Chief Guest, and Guest of Honour, respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, CLP Leader O. Ibobi Singh stated that Mahatma Gandhi continues to inspire Congress members and that the day is observed to commemorate his sacrifice and contributions. He recalled Gandhi’s unwavering courage in fighting the British Empire through non-violent means to achieve India’s independence. He further emphasized that Manipur, which is currently facing a crisis, should embrace Gandhi’s principle of non-violence to restore peace and harmony in the state.
Other MPCC leaders, MLAs, party workers, and representatives of various frontal organizations of the PCC were also present at the solemn observance, paying their respects to the Father of the Nation.
