With the aim to promote handloom and weaving industries of the state, the state’s very own designer, Robert Naorem is all set to showcase his designs on the 3rd edition of Manipur Fashion Extravaganza in May, 2015. Former Miss World Runner up will walk down the ramp.
Addressing a press conference today at the Royal Banquet hall, Classic Hotel, Robert Naorem said that the fashion extravaganza will highlight the traditional handloom textiles of Manipur which will be showcased by top models of the country including the former Miss World Runner up, Parvathy Omnakuttan who will also walk down the ramp as show stopper. Robert said that the idea to organise such fashion event is to promote the products of the state to other part of the country and outside the country and thereby creating a market of fashion industry. During the fashion event, the renowned industry figures, Aslam Khan of Mumbai, Jayanti Balla of Karnataka, Ashikumar Rehman of Bangladesh, Arshi Jamal of Lucknow and Robert Naorem will showcase their designs.
Clad in traditional Manipuri handloom dress, Parvathy Omnakuttan spoke to media just two hours before her departure. Praising the traditional dress of Manipur Parvathy said there is a need to promote the traditional culture of the entire Northeast. She said the government must encourage the beautiful tradition of the state and appreciated Robert for his endeavour in promoting his own tradition to the world.
