Minor girl found dead in Bishnupur; JAC demands justice

A minor girl studying in Class IX was found dead inside her residence at a locality in Bishnupur district on Friday morning.
According to reports, the girl was found hanging when her mother was out for fieldwork and her father was away from home. The incident has sparked widespread concern, with locals suspecting that the minor may have been driven to take the extreme step after a video clip, allegedly recorded and circulated without her knowledge, went viral on social media.
Following the incident, a Joint Action Committee (JAC) was formed on Friday. The JAC has demanded that those involved in the circulation of the video be identified and arrested immediately, holding them accountable for abetment to suicide.
Moirang Police have registered a case in connection with the incident. The body was later taken to RIMS mortuary, where a post-mortem was conducted in the presence of a magistrate with video documentation.
Meanwhile, the JAC staged a sit-in protest at Thamnapokpi Bazar today from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., pressing for immediate justice. They warned that stronger forms of agitation will follow if the accused are not booked promptly.
