Minister Rajen says everyone in his constituency gets 5 kg rice

People of five villages say they got only 3 kg

At a time when there are complaints from various sections of people over not getting the announced 5 kg of Rice to NFSA beneficiaries, and many said they got only 3 kg and at some area 4 kg of rice, Education Minister S Rajen, who represent Lamshang Assembly Constituency is now in trouble mater as people from five villages of his constituency said that they got only 3 kg rice each even as he had announced that every NFSA cardholder in his constituency got 5 kg of rice.
The Education Minister who is also in charge of CADA & Fisheries on May 26 had stated through media, that each and every people in Lamshang Assembly constituency are getting 5 kg rice.

In a press statement signed by representatives of five local club from five villages under Lamshang Assembly constituency – Khonghampat Awang Leikai, Khonghampat Mayai Leikai, Khonghampat MantriLeikai, Khonghampat Khunou and Khamral Villagers with NFSA cardholders got only 3 kg of rice. The club members urged the Minister to make sure that the remaining 2 kg of rice be handed over to respected families at the earliest.
In regard to the announcement ofRs. 5000/- to each Covid infected person the statement by the five local bodies said that some got and the majority still didn’t get.
Meanwhile, the Union Ministry of Food and Public Distribution had directed all States and Union Territories of the country to launch a special drive to issue ration cards and providing food grains to the weakest and vulnerable sections of the society.
“States/UTs maybe aware that during the current scenario pandemic of Covid-19, there are several reports/grievances through Media, newspapers, NGOs, individuals stating that vulnerable and weakest sections of the society i.e. street dwellers, rag pickers, hawkers, rickshaw pullers, migrant labours etc. who are in dire need of foodgrains, are unable to procure ration cards. It is felt that some of the poor and needy people, who also may not have address proof, maybe finding it difficult to obtain a ration card.
“In the present condition, States/UTs are requested to utilize the available coverage under their overall NFSA limits by launching a special drive to reach out to the most vulnerable and economically weakest sections of the population in urban and rural areas.
“In view of the above, all the States/UTs are requested to furnish a fortnightly Status report to this department”. A letter address to all the Principal Secretaries of FCS of all states and UT sent by the Union Ministry said.
