Imphal, Jan 13:

Meeyamgi Numit (Public Durbar) has been connecting the government and people since 2017. It allows citizens to directly interact with their leaders and access welfare schemes. This program has helped improve transparency and made governance more responsive even though it has been hindered for some time due to the ongoing crisis.
Recently, the Imphal West District Administration organized a Public Durbar at two relief camps—Mantop Yumpham Relief Camp and Pravati College in Mayang Imphal. This event aimed to support vulnerable communities.
Chief Minister N. Biren Singh praised the District Administration and officials for their efforts in delivering government benefits. He highlighted the importance of these interactions in making governance more accessible.
The Public Durbar gives citizens a chance to raise concerns and questions directly with the government. It has been vital, especially in times of crisis, to quickly deliver aid and clarify government actions.
Taking the social media site ‘X’ the Chief Minister appreciated the local authorities for their work in ensuring relief measures at the camps and assured the government’s focus on citizens’ welfare. He emphasized that the Public Durbar also helps improve public awareness about government programs. The Chief Minister called for continued cooperation between the government and the people for better governance.
