Imphal, Jan 11:

Manipur Youth League (MAYOL) Convenor Asem Prince has officially declared the organization’s commitment to enact each of the stipulations outlined in the “Langthabal Declaration.” Encouraging widespread support, he has called upon the public to actively participate in facilitating the swift realization of the declaration’s objectives. Originating from a profound journey spanning from December 20, 2023, to January 9, 2024, during which MAYOL conducted a Long March across numerous villages, the Langthabal Declaration comprises seven pivotal resolutions.
Speaking at a press conference held at the Manipur Press Club in Imphal, Prince expressed gratitude to all individuals who rallied behind their cause during the march, which sought to contribute to national regeneration. His acknowledgment extended to local clubs, Manipur Police personnel, sounds, Meira Paibis, and various schools and local authorities that provided unwavering support throughout the culmination of the march on January 9, 2024.
Highlighting the pivotal role that the youth of the state holds in catalyzing positive societal changes, Prince earnestly appealed to all young individuals to unite and collectively forge an image that promotes the welfare of both society and Manipur as a whole.
On January 9, MAYOL took decisive steps, emphasizing that politics should seamlessly integrate into people’s lives, advocating for the practice of righteous politics to safeguard every community and elevate Manipur into a robust and developed state. Prince underscored the importance of embracing civic duty, urging citizens to actively participate in elections by rejecting improper practices, electing qualified and responsible leaders, and steadfastly refusing to compromise voting rights for monetary gains.
Additional resolutions declared at the conclusion of the public gathering encompass a commitment to address the demographic imbalance by actively promoting population growth, implementing measures to curb the influx of illegal immigrants, fostering marriages within indigenous communities, and collectively reconstructing the foundation of the fractured economy. The overarching goal is to dismantle the prevalent dependent economy syndrome and foster economic nationalism through increased production.
Furthermore, an integral decision emerging from the meeting is the rejuvenation of societal morality, marked by the launch of a comprehensive moral regeneration campaign. This initiative seeks to reinstill discipline, truthfulness, unity, and developmental values in the society, with a particular emphasis on rescuing the emerging youth from the clutches of illicit drugs.
A critical facet of the agenda unveiled is the initiation of a movement dedicated to preventing poppy plantation, illicit drug manufacturing, and the sale and use of contraband substances. This movement extends its scope to thwart any attempts to transform Manipur into a second Golden Triangle, thereby safeguarding the region from the repercussions of narcotics trade.
Among the multifaceted decisions articulated during the meeting is a steadfast commitment to environmental preservation. This involves vigilant monitoring to prevent environmental degradation, strategic steps to halt deforestation, and concerted efforts to safeguard water bodies by preventing pollution. The collective resolve is to ensure the sustainable development and ecological well-being of Manipur.
