Manipuri film added to syllabus at Rabindranath Tagore University

Rabindranath Tagore University, Hojai, Assam a public state institution established through the Rabindranath Tagore University Act, XXXIV of 2017 passed by the State Legislature of Assam in 2017, has introduced the subject of Manipuri Film into the BA Manipuri Honours syllabus. This new subject, divided into three units and carrying 80 marks, will be part of the fifth-semester curriculum from the 2024-25 academic year.
The course will be taught in 20 sessions and will cover three main topics: the status of Manipuri Film, Manipuri Documentaries and Short Films, and the analysis of two Manipuri films—Matamgi Manipur and Sanabi.
The learning objectives of the Manipuri Film course is to enable and achieve the knowledge about the trend of Manipuri film and its current status in the Manipuri society, to enlighten about the aspect and importance of Manipuri films, and to understand the role in propagating the Manipuri culture through films.
