The Directorate of Social Welfare, Government of Manipur, has announced that all beneficiaries under the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) must complete Aadhaar-based e-KYC and facial recognition verification through the Poshan Tracker mobile application to continue receiving supplementary nutrition services. The new directive will take effect from July 1, 2025.
The initiative targets beneficiaries such as pregnant and lactating mothers, children aged between six months and six years, and adolescent girls aged 14 to 18 years. These groups currently receive nutrition under the Take Home Ration (THR) component of ICDS through Anganwadi centres. The department stated that the move aims to ensure better accessibility, transparency, and self-service convenience for all eligible recipients.
To complete the process, beneficiaries are required to download the Poshan Tracker application from the Google Play Store. Upon launching the app, users must access the “Beneficiary/Citizen” section and log in using their registered or unregistered mobile numbers. If not previously registered with an Anganwadi Centre, users will be guided through account creation steps. Once logged in, they must update their profile by entering the necessary details, complete e-KYC through Aadhaar OTP authentication, and capture a live photo using the app, ensuring proper lighting and clarity. Finally, users must review and submit their information to complete the verification process.
The directive also states that starting from August 1, 2025, this verification will be mandatory for any new registration under the Poshan Tracker application. Moreover, the biometric authentication system has already been made mandatory under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) since May 21, 2025. The data collected through the Poshan Tracker will be integrated into the PMMVY application to ensure consistency and prevent duplication.
Director of Social Welfare Anna Arambam, who issued the public notice, emphasized that all data is secured as per government protocols. The use of e-KYC and facial recognition ensures that services are delivered only to genuine beneficiaries and reduces the risk of duplicate or fake entries. Beneficiaries who face any issues in completing the process have been advised to approach their nearest Anganwadi worker or ICDS Project Office for support.
