Imphal, June 14:

The Manipur Amateur Photo Club organized a photo exhibition and photography competition to mark World Environment Day 2024 at the Imphal Arts Gallery Kwakeithel. Originally scheduled for June 5, the event was postponed due to flash floods that ravaged Imphal. The exhibition will continue until June 18.
The competition focused on three themes of this year’s World Environment Day: Land Restoration, Desertification, and Drought Resilience. This inaugural event, now set to become an annual affair, was a collaborative effort between the Manipur Amateur Photo Club and the Directorate of Environmental and Climate Change, Government of Manipur.
T. Brajakumar and Pradip Phanjoubam, President of MAPC, graced the inaugural function as Chief Guest and President respectively. Due to the flood emergency, only 19 entries were accepted in the competitive section this year. Members of the Manipur Amateur Photo Club were excluded from the competitive section, with their submissions displayed in the non-competitive section of the exhibition.
The winners of the photo competition are Khangembam Alevason of Iroishemba Mayai Leikai, Sanasam Okendro of Thoubal Sabaltongba Mayai Leikai and Yumkhaibam Stephen Luwang of Uripok Polem Leikai securing First, Second and Third place respectively.
The prizes awarded were Rs. 15,000/- for the first place, Rs. 10,000/- for the second place, and Rs. 7,000/- for the third place.
