Man arrested for alleged killing of wife in Imphal East

A 45-year-old man has been arrested by Manipur Police in connection with the brutal murder of his wife at Keikhu Maning Leikai, Imphal East. The accused, Md Mujibur Rahman, is suspected of killing his wife, Seema Sahani (38), an Anganwadi worker, who was found with a deep neck injury while sleeping beside him late Sunday night.
According to reports, the incident occurred between 12:15 and 12:30 am. Locals said a man in black was seen fleeing the scene, though police suspect Mujibur’s involvement. Seema was rushed to Advanced Speciality Hospital but succumbed to her injuries.
An FIR has been registered at Porompat Police Station, and forensic experts inspected the crime scene. Meanwhile, locals, along with the victim’s family, formed a Joint Action Committee (JAC) demanding immediate arrest and punishment of all those involved. The JAC has resolved not to accept the body until justice is delivered.
Protests broke out at Keikhu, with women staging a sit-in. The Young Star Sporting Union condemned the incident, pledging full support to the investigation. The JAC has warned of intense agitation if the culprits are not booked within 48 hours.
