Major power outage hits Imphal East following Kongba Sub-Station shutdown

A large-scale power outage has been reported in various parts of Imphal East following the complete shutdown of the 132/33/11 kV Kongba Sub-Station, according to a report issued by the Manipur State Power Distribution Company Limited (MSPDCL), SSD-I.
The Kongba Sub-Station has been declared “totally under shutdown,” leading to disruption in electricity supply across multiple 33 kV and 11 kV feeder lines. The report identifies three major 33 kV lines affected: the Khuman Lampak line (now operating with a 10 MW load constraint through Iroishemba Sub-Station), and the Sangapat and JNIMS via Sangaipat lines, both of which are under complete outage.
As a result, eight 11 kV feeders have been impacted, affecting power supply to key localities and essential services.
The affected feeders and their respective localities include:
• 11kV Yairipok: Bamon Kampu, Wangkhem, Irilbung, Keirao
• 11kV Khongman: Kongba Kshetri Leikai, Kongba Nandeibam Leikai, Thongju 1 & 2, Kongba Khunou
• 11kV Wangkei 1: Kongba Laishram Leikai, Kongba Mutum Leikai, Thambalkhong Sabal Leikai, Porompat Road (including Imphal East DC Office & Police Station), Top Khongnangkhong
• 11kV Thambalkhong: Wangkhei Thambalkhong, Kshetri Bengun, Naharup Thongjao, Naharup Mayai Leikai, Mamang
• 11kV Wangkhei 2: Wangkhei, Angom Leikai, Nongmeibung, Wangkhei Andro Parking Road, Wangkhei Ningthem Pukhri Area
• 11kV Bamon Leikai: Loklaobung, Mahabali, Bamon Leikai, Akampat
• 11kV JNIMS: JNIMS Hospital Compound (already under outage due to waterlogging at JNIMS SS)
• 11kV Water Supply: Porompat Water Supply, Novodaya (Yaralpat)
The MSPDCL has not yet announced a timeline for restoration. Residents and institutions in the affected areas are advised to make necessary arrangements as restoration efforts are likely to take time.
