Large cache of arms and ammunition recovered in Jiribam

A large cache of arms and ammunition was recovered today during a joint search operation conducted between Jairolpokpi and Uchathol villages in Jiribam district. The operation was launched based on specific input about anti-social elements concealing weapons in the area.
The search operation was carried out by a combined Quick Action Team (QAT) comprising personnel from the Jiribam Commando Unit, Jiribam District Police, 7th IRB, 87 Bn CRPF, 48 Bn CRPF, 20 Bn CRPF, 156 Bn CRPF, and 38 Assam Rifles.
During the operation, the team recovered two sniper rifles (modified .303 rifle), six SBBL, four DBBL, one Pompi gun, and one tear gas gun. A rifle scope was also found. In addition, the team seized 180 rounds of .303 live ammunition, eight rounds of SLR live ammunition, 27 rounds of 5.56 mm live ammunition, eight .303 blank cartridges, and 13 SLR blank cartridges.
Three magazines for .303 rifles and one magazine for an SLR were also recovered, along with 11 tube launchers. Communication equipment, including nine Baofeng walkie-talkies, was found at the site, along with eight tear gas shells.
