Imphal, Oct 1:

A series of natural calamities, including a landslide and heavy rains, have disrupted life in Noney district. Early this morning, a landslide occurred at the Awangkhul landslide point on National Highway 37, between Awangkhul and Langkhong. The incident has caused significant disruption to transportation and daily activities in the region.
Since 1 a.m. last night, heavy rains have lashed Longmai Bazaar, the main market hub of Noney town. Continuous downpours have led to flooding in the town and nearby areas, further hindering daily activities. Power outages and electricity failures have also been reported, compounding the difficulties faced by residents.
According to weather reports, Noney’s weather is expected to worsen throughout the day, with temperatures ranging between 26°C and 33°C. Reduced visibility has been warned, especially during the early hours.
The situation in Noney mirrors the severe weather conditions affecting parts of Bihar and Nepal. In Bihar, floodwaters have reached the Katra Bakuchi Power Grid in Muzaffarpur, leaving 45,000 homes without electricity. Meanwhile, the death toll in Nepal from floods and landslides has risen to 126, with dozens still missing.
