MLAs of the Manipur Legislative Assembly who are pressing hard to the government for the creation of a separate Kuki state inside the territory of Manipur has highlighted the lack of essential medicals and other supplies in Churachandpur, Tengnoupal, and Chandel districts to the Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
A memorandum was submitted to the Union Home Minister by the Kuki MLAs demanding a separate state from Manipur said that they felt greatly disheartened by his statement in the Parliament saying that the statement of the Home Minister appears to tread the line with the Manipur government linking the ethnic cleansing to the issue of illegal migrants.
Demanding for early political settlement, the MLAs demanding a separate state said that they have lifted the blockade on NH 2 as per the suggestion of the Home Minister however, essential medicals and others due to block by the Meitei community. It said that the state government had failed to give any efforts to ensure the essential supplies reach the districts mentioned. The MLAs also decried the deployment of State Police Commando unit into the Hill border town of Moreh.
