Khwairamband Keithel vendor women threaten stir

Women vendors of Khwairamband Keithel today threatened to intensify agitation if Imphal Municipal Council (IMC) fail to issue vendor license by 15th Jan.
In a public meeting held today, Paonam (o) Ibenu said that the three Ima markets have been handed over by the government to the public for four years. She said that the IMC has collected Rs.150 along with 2 passport size photographs to issue license card for women vendors. But no cards have been issued till now. She added that IMC used to collect Rs.15 per month as regular tax and now it has been increased to Rs.95 per month. She term the collection of taxes as illegal as they have not been provided the license. If the government failed to issue vendor license cards by 15th Jan the women vendor is all set to take up various kinds of agitation, added Ibenu.
The meeting was organised by Nupi Keithel Semgatpa Sagatpa Lup and Nupi Keithel Sinpham amadi Saktam Sagatpa Kanglup.
