Imphal, July 3:

Challengers Youth of Khundrakpam Assembly Constituency has urged the two MPs of Manipur to raise the issues of NRC, SoO, and border fencing.
In a press statement issued by the organization regarding the ongoing parliamentary session and recent speeches by Manipur MPs, particularly praising Bimol Akoijam’s address, James Leishangthem expressed appreciation for MP Bimol Akoijam’s speech, noting its positive reception among the people. He emphasized that the speech went beyond mere conflict resolution, highlighting critical issues such as narco-terrorism, poppy plantation, illegal immigration, and the Suspension of Operations (SoO) agreement as root causes of ongoing conflicts in Manipur.
“Two MPs from Manipur must raise these urgent issues in Parliament, advocating for the implementation of the National Register of Citizens (NRC), abrogation of the SoO agreement, and border fencing,” James Leishangthem urged. He warned that failure to address these issues could lead to renewed conflicts, underscoring the importance of parliamentary action.
“If these crucial matters are not brought up and effectively addressed in Parliament, it will be detrimental to the people of Manipur,” he added, calling on elected representatives to prioritize these concerns to ensure lasting peace and security in the region.
