Imphal, April 26:

Ratana Soubam, a Class XII student of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) Khumbong, Imphal West, has been selected to participate in the prestigious National Level Exhibition and Project Competition (NLEPC) under the INSPIRE MANAK (Million Minds Augmenting National Aspirations and Knowledge) Awards. The competition is organised by the National Innovation Foundation under the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, for the year 2023-24.
Ratana Soubam’s innovative project titled “Multiple Thread Winder” earned her this recognition. Guided by her teacher, Soubam Ingokcha Singh (TGT-SUPW), her model presents a novel technique that simplifies the process of winding threads used by weavers. By using five ports simultaneously, her device enables multiple bobbins to be wound at once, significantly saving time, labour, and effort.
It is noteworthy that Ratana is among the top five student innovators selected by the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS), Noida, and she is the sole representative from the Shillong Region to be included in the final selection.
The Principal and staff of JNV Khumbong have expressed their heartfelt happiness and conveyed their best wishes to Ratana Soubam for her success at the National Level Exhibition.
