JAC demands probe for death of Laishram Sophia

Laishram Sophia (23) w/o Laishram Thoiba (25) of Thanga Hangmeibam who was reported found dead hanging herself from a Yongchak tree (Parkia speciosa) grown at the main gate of her residence on the night of Feb 25 was claimed suspicious with the JAC demanding a probe on the death case.
Ningthoujam Kameshwari (46), convener of JAC formed on the suspicious death told media persons in a press meet today at Manipur Press Club that the circumstances and the situations found on that day was quite suspicious to term the case as suicide.
He informed that the Yongchak tree on which Sophia allegedly hanged herself is a huge tree and the tree is too big to climb by herself and no other clue by which she reached the tree branch was found. Moreover she informed that there was no mark on the dead body’s neck. She further informed that since there was rain on the other day before the incident, there were muddy trails nearby the tree however they could not find any mud on the body of the deceased.
While demanding further investigation on the matter, JAC decided not to take the dead body till the culprits are punished.
