Likeminded people connected through Social networking site provide assistance to disabled family

A group of people who share common platform at popular messaging app Whatsapp called Awa Nungai 24x7 Paodam group today visited the family of one Menjor at Khongjom Leibung Leikai and extended monetary assistance and edible items. Menjor could not work after having backbone problem and his son is mentally unstable and his daughter have to live by support from Menjor as she could not walk and get up alone due to physical disability. Menjor wife left the three for heavenly abode. The story of the family highlighted through social networking site drew the attention of Social Welfare Department and the Director of the Department along with his staffs had visited and process for providing all possible government assistant has been taken up. On hearing the news more people visited to Menjor family and extended all form of support to Menjor since then.

Today the members of the Whatsapp group called Awa Nungai 24x7 Paodam visited the family and provided monetary assistant of Rs. 10,000/-. Besides, mosquito nets and edible items including rice and dal were also handed over.

Fashion Show cum Beauty Contest held in connection with Ningol Chakkouba at Shillong

Ningol Chakkouba organizing committee Shillong organised Ningol Chakkouba festival on November 10 at State Central Library, IGP Point Shillong.

As a part of Ningol Chakkouba festival, Ningol Chakkouba organizing committee in collaboration with Centre for Resource Development, Manipur also organised a Fashion show and beauty contest to promote the traditional attire of Manipur.

The fashion parade first title was won by Nirupama Laishram, second title by Jeena Shamurailatpam, third title by Mayanglambam Mercy and Subtitle Best Cat Walk title by Nongthombam Ongbi Devarani.

Moreover, on the Beauty Contest first title was won by Khanganbi Chanu, Second title by Waikhom Kalpana and Third title by Athokpam Helena. Subtitles, Best Cat Walk title by Athokpam Victoria, Best Admiration (Thougalon) title by Victoria Okram and best beautiful face (Ningthibi Maithong) title by Yanglem Monisha Devi.

Jiribam: Rally held to celebrate birthday of Prophet Muhammad

Along with rest of the world, the Muslim brethren of Jiribam District, Manipur and Jirighat which lies under Cachar District of Assam celebrated Eid-e- Milad un Nabi to commemorate the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) today.

In connection with the celebration, a procession carried out from Babupara Jame- Masjid, Jiribam where hundreds of devotees from various localities of Jiribam and Jirighat participated in it and culminated at Lalpani, Cachar. 

The rally was jointly organised by Ahle Sunnat Wal Jammat, Jiri Valley Central Committee and Sunni Students Federation, Jiribam District Committee.

Speaking at the sideline of procession, the Finance Secretary of Sunni Students Federation, National Committee Salman Khurshid said the rally was organised in commemoration of Prophet Muhammad birthday and the Muslim devotees from various place of Jiribam and Jirighat, Cachar gathered to mark Eid-e- Milad un Nabi celebration.

Later, all the devotees of procession gathered at Lalpani, Cachar mosque where religious scholars threw light on the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him).

MP Dr. Ranjan emphasis the significance of celebrating Ningol Chakkouba

MP of the Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency Dr. RK Ranjan stressed on the significance of Ningol Chakouba Festival today.

Ningol Chakkouba – is the festival of reunion of Family members, Dr. Ranjan said while attending the celebration at Goakhal of Borobekra Sub Division of Jiribam District. Ningols (Married sisters) of Bishnupriya and Meetei attended the programme organised by Goakhal Farmers’ Club. 

Speaking at the programme, MP Dr. RK Ranjan Singh said once the Maharaja’s of Manipur invited their Married Sisters and relatives for feast at their parental family but nowadays many communities also have started to celebrate it as it emphasis the importance of happiness and reunion of family. He added, the Ningols have brought many things which show the United strength of Manipur. He also sought the blessing of Ningol so that it will encourage and help to protect and also to keep the State intact.

Thereafter, the women who attended the celebration were served with lunch and gifts were presented. The celebration also acts as a platform for increasing mutual trust and confidence among the communities.

Local MLA Md, Ashab Uddin, Adhyakshya Jiribam  K. Janaki Devi, Ex- Minister, Jiribam A. Biren singh, Mayanglambam Rajkumar singh, DC, Jiribam, M. Mubi Singh, SP, Jiribam District Police and L. Veerjeet Singh, BJP Protocol officer and Media Advisor to President graced the programme as dignitaries.
