Huge consignment of WIN cigarette seized

Thoubal, May 10;

Acting on a reliable information regarding the trafficking of foreign cigarettes, a team of Police under the command of OC/HRK-PS Inspt. N. Premjit Singh and a team of HRK PS led by SI Th Anand Singh and SI Yunush Khan assisted ASI M Iodash Singh rushed to Heirok part 2 Bazar area and on arrival two individuals namely Ningthoujam Anand Singh aged 25 years of Heirok Part II & Mahesh Laishram  aged 21 years of Heirok part II were apprehended along with 9500 packets i.e 950 boxes of banned foreign Cigarettes (WIN King size cigarettes made in Myanmar) from their possession. The same were seized by preparing formal seizure memo, the  apprehended persons and the seized items were brought to Heirok PS. The apprehended individuals along seized items are being handed over to Superintendent of Custom Preventive Force, Pallel for further formalities.

Blood donation camp held at Thoubal

A One day Voluntary Blood Donation Camp was held today at Blood Bank and Transfusion Unit, District Hospital, Thoubal. The blood donation camp was organized by Indian Red Cross Society Thoubal District Branch in connection with the observance of World Red Cross Day 2020. The camp was organized under the theme, “Keep Clapping for Volunteers”. Dr. Ksh. Manglem Singh, former Chief Medical Officer, Thoubal, W. Ibohal Singh, former District Youth Coordinator, Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, and K. Sadananda Singh, Secy. IRCS, Thoubal District Branch were attended in the inauguration of the Blood bank. 25 persons including 4 female donated their blood voluntarily during the camp.  K. Sadananda Singh, Secy, IRCS, Tbl Br. explained about the importance of voluntary blood donation and need for regular donation. He also thanked all the blood donors for donating their blood voluntarily.

Turtle released to natural habitat

Thoubal, May.6:

An Indian black turtle (Melanochelys trijuga) was released safety in its natural habitat today. The turtle was handed over by one Kh. Gopen Singh of Thongam Khunou. 

After the release of the turtle, N. Munal Meitei, Range Officer/Kakching told that this medium size turtle is in Schedule IV of Wildlife Protection Act, 1972 and near threatened as per IUCN list. 

The species whose size varies from 38 to 45 cm is most active during early morning and evening, spending most of the day basking in the sun. It is omnivorous, with its diet ranging from aquatic plants to aquatic insects and carrion and thus it is a very useful amphibian in terms of insect control. The Indian black turtle breeds during the wet season, between August to October with two to six  eggs per year laid in burrows and the incubation period is for 60–65 days.

Embroidery Cluster Distributed Face Mask

Traditional Embroidery Cluster, Khongjom has distributed around 650 numbers of face masks to the weaving Artisan, Police Personnel on Duty of Khongjom Police Station, Shopkeeper and Vander of Khongjom Bazar today.

Speaking to Media, Naorem Subhash Cluster Development Executive (CDE) of WATEFADEAS stated that the masks are designed by artisans which are sponsored by the Ministry of MSME, KVIC under SFURTI Scheme of the Government of India.

He further informed that the design and quality will be tried to empire for further distribution to the general public in the mass.
