“Work and Fight Covid-19”- Lunch pack distributed to COVID-19 warriors

Wangjing Tentha Farmers Development Association (WATEFADEAS) as a part of their campaign under the theme “Work and Fight COVID-19 has distributed lunch pack to security forces deployed at various part of Thoubal and Kakching districts who are fighting the COVID-9 invasion.
The lunch pack were distributed to security forces deployed at Thoubal Thong, Melaground, Ushoipokpi, Tangje, Wangjing, Khongjom, Sora, Kakching Lamkhai amasung Kakching Bazar and various other places.  
Talking to media persons, chief functionary of the association , Moirangthem Hemanta said that the lunch box were distributed as a part of the promotional campaign for the “Work and Fight Covid-19”  programme which kick starts yesterday at the office og the Association located at Khongjom. Under the “Work and Fight Covid-19” programme the association has been providing all form of support and assistant to farmers who are  working without any fear of COVID -19 and those who are in quarantine centres.
Hemanta further assures to distributes equipments for farmers that they may require while producing food for the people
He urged the government to provide water to the field instead of blaming the rains.

Wild bird rescued; complaint lodged against killing of wild animals

Imphal, May 16:

A  Co-Ordination Committee on Wildlife and Biodiversity (JCCWB) Manipur  and Kakching Range Forest Division today rescued two birds that were trapped in nets and also seized several nets from Khoidum Pat of Sekmaijing Maning Leikai in Kakching district at around 5 am today morning.
Co-convenor of the JCCWB  Irengbam Sanaton said that the joint team raided the area as they have information about some selfish persons using nets to trap birds during the COVID-19 pandemic, which is very unfortunate.
He appealed the general public  not to trap the wild birds as we cannot survived without friendly nature.
Meanwhile, the Kangpokpi Forest Division Officer, Chinpilhing Kipgen had lodged a complaint against the alleged killing of two barking deer and one wild boar under Kangpokpi district that has been uploaded at social media (Facebook) on May 15. The post was uploaded from a Facebook user Mangcha khongsai.
The barking deer and wild boar falls under schedule III Animal Protection Act 1979.

Birds recovered, nets confiscated

Volunteers of Joint co-ordination committee on wildlife and Biodiversity (JCCWB) Manipur- a joint team of Wildlife and Biodiversity Conservation Committee (WBCC) and Unique Wildlife Protection Committee (UWLPC) confiscated 16 nets and rescued 1 live and 7 dead birds from the Ikopat and Leishangthem Khong area of Thoubal District. According to a press statement issued by Convenor Romes Ningthoujam, the raid was conducted after receiving reports of illegal poaching from a reliable source and the volunteers rushed to the spot at around 3 am under the supervision of Thoubal SP Dr S. Ibomcha and Ningombam police out post SI O. Rabikanta.

Huge consignment of WIN cigarette seized

Acting on a reliable information regarding the trafficking of foreign cigarettes, a team of Police under the command of OC/HRK-PS Inspt. N. Premjit Singh and a team of HRK PS led by SI Th Anand Singh and SI Yunush Khan assisted ASI M Iodash Singh rushed to Heirok part 2 Bazar area and on arrival two individuals namely Ningthoujam Anand Singh aged 25 years of Heirok Part II & Mahesh Laishram  aged 21 years of Heirok part II were apprehended along with 9500 packets i.e 950 boxes of banned foreign Cigarettes (WIN King size cigarettes made in Myanmar) from their possession. The same were seized by preparing formal seizure memo, the  apprehended persons and the seized items were brought to Heirok PS. The apprehended individuals along seized items are being handed over to Superintendent of Custom Preventive Force, Pallel for further formalities.
