1st National Convention on Socialism to be held on April 2

With an objective to spread the ideas and ideology of Lamyanba Irabot to the hoi polloi and also to implement his ideas for an egalitarian society, Manipur Proletariat Peoples’ Democratic Union (MPPDU), Socialist Woman Association (SWA), Manipur Young Communist League (YCL) and Socialist Students’ Union of Manipur (SSUM) will together organised Mannaba Khunaigidamak Ahanba Manipur Khunnai Meepham (1st National Convention on Socialism) on April 2, 2019.
Speaking to media persons in a press meet held at the office of SSUM convenor of Young Communist League Wahengbam Kameshor said the hoi polloi needs to understand the ideas of Lamyanba Irabot and also need to be conscious about his ideology to make our society an egalitarian one.  Even though various organizations have been celebrating in memorial of Lamyanba Irabot but unfortunately only a few follows his ides, he added.
Kameshor added that by offering flowers, lighting candle and singing songs to the leader will not change our society into a classless society. He further said only a few of the masses has gathered much of the wealth while many were stranded fighting a lose battle to have two meals in a day. He opined that the working class needs to work together with the ideology of Lamyanba Irabot in building an egalitarian classless society.
He said that the various revolutions around the world were succeeded because of the movements of the masses of the working class. He questioned that if the working class strived only for the two meals in a day than who will strive in building a classless society. He further added that it is time to unite the working class and the people who love their mother land, who have the ideology of being self independent to build an egalitarian society where Lamyanba Irabot dreamt.
He concluded that the convention will discuss on how the ideas of Irabot will turns into action.

9th Annual Conference of Medical Society of RIMS held

The 9th Annual Conference of Medical Society of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal MESOCON 2019 was held today at  Jubilee Hall of the Institution

The theme of this year is “Translational medicine need of the hour”. The annual event is being organised to update the knowledge on current trends in medical sciences for teaching staffs and post graduate students of various departments of RIMS.

More than 370 delegates have registered for the conferences. Prof Pallab Ray, Department of Microbiology, PGI Chandigarh has delivered the theme talk on “Translational Medicine: need of the hour”. Prof Huber Hutchin Robinson, secretary General North American Institute of Oriental and classical studies has delivered a talk on “Science, Psyche and spirituality”. A panel discussion on “Hepatitis : An update “was also organised with Prof. Ng. Taruni Devi Prof & HOD of Medicine as a moderator and Prof Kh. Sulochana Devi, Prof. N. Nabakishore Singh and Dr R.K. Rosie were panel members. Prof. AK Brogen Singh talked on “ Addressing Ethical issues in writing proposals and Prof Th. Suraj Singh delivered talk on “ Multidisciplinary Research Unit: An avenue for medical research “. Certificate and Mementos were distributed to the winners of PG, Award session 2019 of the society held on 19th January , 2019.

Cycle rally under the theme “Sports for a change” to be held on March 17

With the aim to eradicate the various activities which demoralised the youth because of Yaoshang Festival and move forward into a more positive sporting spirit, Kangleipak Students’Association has been organising Kanglei Mega Sports Festival.
Stating in a press release signed by Convenor, Organising Sub-Committee of 8th Kanglei Mega Sports Festival Sanjoy Khulakpam said that for this year The Kanglei Mega Sports Festival will be held from 20th of March till the 25th of March.
So as to create awareness of the said festival a cycle rally under the theme “Sports For A Change” will be held on the 17th of March which will flag off from Kangla around 8 in the morning, he added. He further appealed the people of the state to join the said cycle rally.

Family of a girl harassed by a married man cry for justice

Family of a 17 years old girl from Imphal East today cry for justice by arresting a 37 years old married man who had allegedly molested and physically assaulted her.

During a press meet held today at Manipur Press club, family of the victim girl said that a person identified as Waikhom Ngouba , about 37 years old from Sekta Mayai Leikai had allegedly assaulted the 17 years old girl on February 20 and the matter was revealed to the family members by the victim girl on Feb 25. Both were sportsperson and were having illicit relationship for quit some times after the incident, the family reported the matter to Porompat Police on February 26. However police take no action against the person, said the grandfather of the victim girl. He said that the said person had threatened the family many times after they had reported the matter to the police. He urged the concern authority to take appropriate action against the said person.
