CM inaugurates Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and System

Chief Minister Okram Ibobi today inaugurates the Crime and Criminal Tracking network and System (CCTNS) at Imphal West Police station today. The system is the first of its kind installed in the entire North East India under the pilot phase Manipur go-live.Speaking on the occasion Chief Minister Okram Ibobi said that the CCTNS is an e-governance mission mode project fully funded by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) government of India.  He said that through this system the law and order situation state will be improved. The main aim of CCNTS project is to create an IT data base which will enable direct interconnectivity between police stations of the country.The system will record crime and criminal files available at one police station with the police station in the rest of the country and it will be accessible to any other police station and MHA through internet. The CCTNS is to facilitate collection of data, storage, retrieval, analysis, transfer and sharing of data and information at the police station and between the police station and the state headquarter and the National Crime Record Bureau (NCRB). The NCRB will manage CCTNS which would be implemented nation-wide.Ibobi further said that for the first phase the pilot project is implemented in the 25 police station of Imphal East and Imphal West district out of 101 police stations in the state. The facilities will be avail to the rest of the police station in phase wise manner. The chief Minister said the extension of this facility will take some time as the state is facing acute shortage of power supply. The  CCTNS needs 24X7 power supplies.Home Minister Gaikhangam and Chief Secretary Lawmkungang IAS, DGP Shahid Ahmad IPS and high ranking officers of Police department were also present during the inaugural function.
