If Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) is a discipline political party, women wings members of the Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) has reason to believe in its organisation Secretary Bidyapati Senjam. He had assured to announce the Congress Party’s stand on ILPS within 10 days period. MPCC president Gaikhangam and Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh had been advocating the government stands saying that they are doing everything in support of the public’s demand even though the law enforcers of the state had acted harsh to the student agitators demanding the system.The assurance for announcement of the congress party’s stand was given to 8 representatives of the Women’s Wing JCILP at Congress Bhavan today afternoon. The women wing today staged a rally from Wahengbam Leikai till the southern gate of Kangla passing through BT road, shouting slogans for implementation of ILP at around 1 pm today. The rally then returned back to the same route and throng to the office of MPCC by surprised. The women protestors were however intervene by a team of city police in front of the gate. Later, police allowed 8 representatives of the Women Wing JCILP to meet the authority of the congress party. Bidyabati Senjam Organisation Secretary of the MPCC who happened to be at the Congress Bhavan, after consultation with the Congress Party leadership had assured to announce the Congress Party’s stand on ILPS within 10 days period.While, the 8 representatives were meeting the Congress Party’s authority, the remaining protestors staged a protest demonstration in front of the MPCC office at BT road.
