Labourers of the godown for CAF&PD Sangaiprou today put strong objection to the distribution of labour enrolment form, saying that it was against the agreement reached between the labourers’ body and the government authority. After days of fast unto death protest, the state government had revised the rate of labour charge. The labour enrollment form was distributed by a firm – RK Fortune Developers Pvt. Ltd which is being engaged as contractor for the godown. The labour body said that they have been working as labour at Sangaiprou for over 20 years and they had been given recognition by the government authority in 2007-2010. Moreover, the labour charge was put at Rs. 4 per (including loading , unloading of all height, weightment and stitching/restacking ) which is much lower than the revised rate made by the government. The revise rate for labour charge was over rupees 24 per quintal. While demanding the reason for distribution of the labour enrollment form the labourers appealed the government authority to clarify the ground for accepting RK Fortune Developers Pvt. Ltd. as the contractor.
