Imphal, August 5: A college going girl had alleged that a Gram Panchayat member of Lourembam gram Panchayat in Thoubal District to have rape her on July 19 this year.Police had arrested the gram panchayat member after registering a case in accordance with the complaint made by the victim girl.In a meeting with media persons at her residence yesterday, the victim girl said that the Gram Panchayat member identified as Kangabam Boby Singh (34), son of K.Dhanajoi Singh of Aripat (Lourembam) had rape her at a hotel in Thoubal on July 19 and later sent her threatening SMS.As narrated by the victim girl the incident happened while he was returning from kakching Khunou after attending a swasti puja. She said the GP member happen to come along in a tata magic where he introduced him as his father’s friend. On reaching Thoubal, Bobby stopped her for a cup of tea. The victim girl said that she was reluctant at first but went as he thought it would not be a good manner to throw down the offer as the man happened to be his father’s friend. Inside, the hotel room the man allegedly rape her after making her unconscious. She said that she become unconscious after having the tea.On a question on why she remain silent for too long, the victim girl said that she was threaten of dire consequences if she spoke of it to anyone. However, as the man keep on sending threatening SMS trying to blackmail her she have no option but to highlights what had happened to her on that day.
